Who Am I?

Hello! I'm Rose, and I recently graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I have a passion for computer science and decided to pursue electrical engineering through academics, complementing it with computer science via personal projects and internships. I strongly believe in interdisciplinary knowledge, which allows me to approach problems from a holistic perspective.

After graduation, I dedicated my time to working on projects that unveiled a newfound interest in finance. I'm now considering pursuing a master's degree in financial engineering to further explore this passion. I spend my days working on projects, reading machine learning textbooks, studying probability, building video game, exploring computer science, and building upon other engineering principles.

On the creative side, I've engaged in various art forms, including mural painting, photography, sewing, graphic design, and video editing.

My non-creative hobbies include fitness and learning how to fly. I've already accumulated several hours of both ground and flying time toward my private pilot's license and am determined to complete it once circumstances allow.

HRL Laboratories Intern | May 2022 - Nov 2022

  • Developed a Python-based beam simulation program using libraries like pymap3d and matplotlib.
  • Integrated topological elevation data to map the radar beam footprint projected from the nose of an aircraft.
  • Verified simulation accuracy through mini-radar experiments, transmitting signals and measuring received power with a power analyzer, ensuring reliability for radar technology research.
  • Designed and conducted experiments on radar systems to explore the effects of proximity between large and small objects. Analyzed potential occlusion phenomena, where signals from the larger object may obstruct or interfere with those from the smaller object in the radar data.
  • Crafted custom wires using common industry techniques like wire stripping and crimping.
  • Wrote initialization scripts in C for an FPGA used in the prototype, involving a detailed analysis of the user manual to identify and configure the relevant registers for proper functionality.

NASA Glenn Research Center Intern | Aug 2021 - Jan 2022

  • Developed user-friendly GUI for NASA’s Glenn-HT code, a high-performance computational fluid dynamics softwarefor simulating heat transfer in jet engine components.
